The report breaks down crime on a county by county basis. It also breaks the statistics down a few other ways. You really should look at it to get a true understanding of how much crime Baltimore City has compared to most other counties. Prince George’s is the only jurisdiction that rivals Baltimore in terms of crime.
Carjackings are a prime example of Baltimore’s relative danger when compared to other counties. In 2011 there were 181 carjackings in Baltimore City. Calvert, Caroline, Garrett, and Kent counties had a combined ZERO carjackings from 2007 to 2011! Over that same five year time period Baltimore City had 1,149 of the states 3,290 carjackings. Carroll County had 2 carjackings during that five year period and Prince George’s county had 1,448. Prince George’s clearly has some major problems also.
